AMS-certified Montessori teacher Lisa Lappin (MAT, MPP Harvard) founded Montessori Math Club to make math hands-on, exciting, and creative

Lisa Lappin is an AMS-certified Montessori Lower Elementary teacher with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Simmons College and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School.

An educator, artist, and active community member, Lisa is the founder and instructor of Montessori Math Club (MMC), an extracurricular math enrichment program designed to bring the engaging, hands-on approach of Montessori mathematics to children in her community. Inspired by her experience witnessing children’s deep engagement with the Montessori math curriculum, Lisa believes that more children can benefit from this concrete, foundational approach to learning. Through MMC, she aims to make math accessible, exciting, and creative for a wider range of learners.

Beyond the classroom, Lisa leads a local children’s book club and teaches children’s art classes in her community. She enjoys painting with acrylics in her beautiful seaside community and regularly practices mindfulness as a member of Mindfulness Plus. She also serves on the board of Providence Promise, an organization that partners with families to make higher education accessible for all public and charter school students in Providence, RI.
